GREENVILLE, Miss. — Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with suspected copper theft after officers discovered burglary tools during a traffic investigation, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Officers responded Jan. 7 to the 700 block of South Washington Avenue after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, officers observed two men inside the vehicle and found burglary tools in their possession.
Police said the tools are commonly used in the theft of copper wiring and have been linked to multiple copper thefts reported throughout the city.
The suspects were identified as 27-year-old Julio Ortiz of Greenville and 40-year-old Bryan Bridges of Anguilla. Both men were arrested and charged with possession of burglary tools, along with several misdemeanor offenses.
Ortiz and Bridges are being held while awaiting their initial court appearances.
