ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University has begun demolishing Leflore Hall, a former men’s residence hall, after completing all required environmental abatement, university officials said.
The area surrounding Leflore Hall has been secured with fencing, and safety measures are in place as crews move forward with the demolition process.
University officials said Delta Hall will also enter the demolition phase in the coming weeks following asbestos removal. The removal of the two aging facilities is part of a broader effort aimed at modernizing the campus and positioning the institution for future growth.
School leaders said clearing the outdated residence halls will create opportunities for new development and campus improvements designed to enhance student success and support long-term institutional advancement.
Officials are reminding students, faculty and visitors not to enter fenced areas and to follow all posted signage during the demolition process.
