Clarksdale High School Seniors Make History by Earning Associate Degrees Before Graduation

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Seniors at Clarksdale High School are set to make school history this month by earning associate degrees before receiving their high school diplomas.

According to Clarksdale Municipal School District, the inaugural class of middle college seniors at Clarksdale High School will become the first students from the school to graduate from Coahoma Community College before completing high school.

The students are scheduled to receive their associate degrees from Coahoma Community College during commencement ceremonies at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 9. They will later graduate from Clarksdale High School at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29.

District officials said the accomplishment represents a major milestone for the students and the school.
The students recognized as members of the 2024-25 Clarksdale High School Middle College class are Rhymes Chess, Erin Cook, Malaysia Earl, Khmara McClenton, Jazel Moore, Madison Morris, MacKenzie Newsom, Brooklyn Taylor, Myla Walker and Alexis Young.

School leaders praised the students for balancing college-level coursework while completing their high school education.
