LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — Arkansas residents spent $28 million on legal medical marijuana in 2019 according to state figures released this week. The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration reports that amounts to more than 4,200 pounds worth of the formerly illegal substance. Sales are expected to soar higher in 2020 as the two remaining growing facilities begin full operations and the remaining dispensaries open to the public. Currently, just 14 of the 32 license holders have opened their doors to customers. Voters approved the sale of medical marijuana in Arkansas in 2016.
