BELZONI, Miss.–A body was found inside a partially burned house in Belzoni, said the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Dept.
The fire happened at a home on First St. Saturday night just after 11:30, said Fire Chief David Harrionbs, who said the charred remains of a person were found after the fire was put out.
Authorities had not made a positive ID on the body as of Sunday, and the owner of the house was out of town.
About one quarter of the home was burned. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
It was unclear how the person found inside the house died.
