Since Mid-January the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving numerous reports regarding copper wire theft from water wells on farmlands.
The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office was able to catch a break by obtaining video footage from a farm headquarters of a suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a red Ford crew cab pickup truck. During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Ricky Petty of Cleveland, Mississippi. Ricky Petty was arrested and charged with felony malicious mischief. Petty’s bond was set at $5,000.
Petty is also facing similar charges in Sunflower County and is assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
