CLARKSDALE, Miss. — The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office has taken a major step in modernizing its law enforcement efforts, becoming the first in the county’s history to equip deputies with body cameras.
Sheriff Mario Magsby, Sr. announced the new initiative, which aims to increase protection, transparency, and accountability in the department’s operations. The body cameras will allow for greater oversight of deputy conduct and improve public trust, according to the sheriff’s office.
The move comes as part of a broader effort to enhance law enforcement practices and provide clearer documentation of interactions between officers and the community.
