YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Cell phones, cigarettes, weed and pills were just a few of the items found during a shakedown at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility this week, said Yazoo County Sheriff Jeremy “Bull” McCoy.
McCoy published a picture of the items on the Sheriff’s Dept. Facebook page. The picture showed chargers, tobacco products, including cigars, and other kinds of electronics.
At least 12 cell phones were shown.
Contraband has been an ongoing problem at both the county jail and at the federal prison, with both visitors and corrections officers coming up with creative ways to sneak the items in. Those items could present a danger to guards and other inmates.
