CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University student Fa’Darryl Cooper has been selected as the 2025 Delta Research Foundation Congressional Fellow. The prestigious fellowship offers one outstanding DSU student the chance to intern on Capitol Hill for a Mississippi senator. Cooper, a native of the Mississippi Delta, will intern for U.S. Senator Roger Wicker during the Spring 2025 semester.
The Delta State Congressional Fellows Program, which is sponsored by Delta State University in collaboration with Delta Council and Staplcotn, provides an invaluable hands-on learning experience for students. Cooper said he first learned about the fellowship through faculty members and the “Today @ Delta State” e-newsletter from the Division of Student Affairs.
Cooper expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, calling his selection “an extraordinary opportunity and a true blessing.” He added that the application process was rigorous, requiring detailed personal information, academic records, letters of recommendation, and essays to ensure the selection of qualified candidates.
