HERNANDO, Miss.–A man who had just gotten a ten-year sentence on drug charges decided Monday was not the day he was going to prison and took off with his restraints on.

Stephen Russell, Jr.,, 27, ran and was able to get to his car, which was still parked at the DeSoto County courthouse. He had been out on bond before the judge gave him ten years and ordered him into custody.

Russell was able to get about a block before he was stopped and captured.

Russell’s sentence was for trafficking fentanyl.
