Greenville Fire Chief Ruben Brown, Sr. recently traveled to Washington, D.C., where he attended the National Fire & Emergency Services Symposium and Fire Service Day.

During the event, Chief Brown joined other fire service leaders from across the country in lobbying Senators and Congressional Representatives on several key issues. Among the topics discussed were cancer legislation, funding for Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) and SAFER Grants, improvements to emissions and DEF systems, and funding for recruitment and retention programs for firefighters.

Chief Brown shared that it was an honor to represent Mississippi’s volunteer and career firefighters, advocating for their needs and the future of fire services in the state.
