GRENADA, Miss.–The first lady of Grenada has died. Mayor Charles Latham announced the death of his wife Dorothy Jean Latham, in a post on Facebook.
He did not give a cause of death.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved wife, First Lady Dorothy Jean Latham. On behalf of our family we thank you all for your calls, texts and acts of kindness. For Heaven’s gain is truly our loss. Please continue to lift our family in prayer,” said Latham.
The city followed with a post.
“Our hearts are heavy as we join the entire Grenada community in mourning this loss,” read the city’s message.
“Ms. Latham was a cherished member of our city—known for her kindness, grace, and unwavering support of the Mayor. To Mayor Latham, we offer our heartfelt condolences and stand with you during this unimaginably difficult time. Please know that the City of Grenada is here to support you in any way we can. We encourage our residents to keep the Mayor and his family in their thoughts and prayers.”
