JACKSON, Miss.–Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann fell onto the podium and then onto the floor during the Senate proceedings Wednesday morning at the state Capitol.
Hosemann was able to sit up under his own power, and chose not to go to the emergency room.
Hannah C. Millett, communications director for Hosemann’s office, said in a short prepared statement that Hosemann was doing well and in good spirits. But, once the Senate gaveled back into session at 2 p.m., Hosemann was not presiding.
It was unclear what caused Hosemann’s collapse. The legislative media pulled video of the incident from the YouTube feed.
