TATE COUNTY, Miss.–The counties of Tate, Panola, Lafayette and Yalobusha are banding together to promote economic and commercial development, with a bill that passed the Mississippi House Wednesday afternoon.
The Northwest Regional Alliance for Economic Development would be formed if the bill also passes the Senate to become law.
However, one state representative from the Delta questioned whether the alliance would be exclusive.
“Will this piece of legislation be open to other counties inside this state to do some of the same out of the box thinking?” asked Rep. John Hines, of Washington County.
The answer given was that other counties are also welcome to form their own alliances, using their own resources.
The bill passed unanimously
