GREENVILLE, Miss.–THe pipeline expansions that were announced earlier this week will mean a tax advantage for the counties in which they will be located. But, for one Delta city and county, the advantages may mean an economic advantage.
Greenville and Washington County are also the site for the new Delta Blues Power Station that was announced last year by Entergy Mississippi.
“In terms of economic development, having a 750 megawatt plant with Entergy and also the natural gas with Gulf South converging in Greenville, that is a win-win scenario with me in terms of us pitching economic development,” said Justin Burch, executive director of the Washington County Economic Alliance.
Two companies announced parallel natural gas pipeline expansions this week, both of which will run through Washington County.
The extra load will mean extra tax money in ad valorem taxes for Washington, Sunflower, Holmes and Humphreys counties.
