GREENVILLE, Miss.–The timing of the possible severe weather expected in the Delta this weekend remains primarily Sunday evening, through the overnight hours, said Nicholas Fenner, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.
Delta counties are under a “slight” risk, which is two in five.
“The primary concern here is the Sunday evening time frame where storms will be developing in our area, especially in the northern portions of the Delta and then moving southeastward overnight,” he said.
Fenner said we are in the peak of severe weather season and that the storms will likely contain all modes of severe weather.
“These thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts, hail up to golf ball size, and possibly tornadoes.”
He said strong winds and hail are the primary concerns.
