Shooting at Mississippi Delta Community College Leaves One Student Injured

Moorhead, MS — A shooting on the campus of Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) in Moorhead Thursday afternoon has left one student injured. Campus police responded to the Edwards-Stonestreet Men’s Residence Hall around 3:30 p.m. and confirmed that a male student had been shot.

The victim was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he is reported to be in stable condition. Authorities say a suspect has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Police have indicated that additional arrests may follow as they continue to piece together the details of the incident.

In response to the shooting, the MDCC Moorhead campus is under lockdown. Security checkpoints have been established at all campus entrances, and the lockdown will remain in effect until the end of the semester.

Campus officials said they will release more information as the investigation develops.
