Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement: Two Fatal Wrecks Reported, Over 6,600 Tickets Issued

MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss.–Two fatal wrecks were reported by the Mississippi Highway Patrol during their Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period, which began Wednesday.
One of those was in Leake County. The other was Sunday night about 7:30 in Marshall County when a woman from Memphis was hit by a Nissan Maxima and killed as she crossed Hwy. 302.
That woman was ID’d as Sherry Nicholson, 62, of Memphis.
The Highway Patrol also reported 187 crashes in total, with 80 arrests for DUI, 629 child restraint and seatbelt violations and a total of 6,662 tickets written.
Last year there were three fatal crashes during the same enforcement period.
