HOLMES COUNTY, Miss.–A woman died in Holmes County Monday morning when she either fell from or jumped from a car on I-55, possibly trying to get away from the man police believe kidnapped her at the Nissan plant in Canton.
The woman, who has not been identified by police, died when she was hit by another car.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March told reporters he believed shots had been fired inside the car. But, he didn’t know if the woman was hit by bullets.
Joshua Andrew turned himself in at the Carroll County Sheriff Office.
Andrew is a native of Holmes County and is known to deputies there for his violent behavior, having served time in prison for aggravated assault, according to March.
