GREENWOOD, Miss.–A man charged with killing two people and wounding eight others five years ago is finally getting his time in court.
Tyrell Stigler is charged with shooting into a crowd of people outside of a funeral home Oct. 24, 2020.
Stigler has been in jail ever since. But, his trial began Tuesday.
Killed in the shooting were Jonathan and Katrina Pitts, 42 and 41 years old. At the time police did not discuss a motive for the shooting.
The charges listed on court documents include capital murder, which carries a possibility for the death penalty, first degree murder, drug trafficking with a firearm and aggravated assault.
