OXFORD, Miss.–During the second day of the murder trial of Timothy Herrington, of Grenada, for the murder of Ole Miss student Jimmy “Jay” Lee, of Jackson, prosecutors had police retrace Lee’s presumed whereabouts the day he went missing, using video surveillance of Lee’s car.
Two police officers were interviewed, one showing video of Lee’s car.
Herrington’s whereabouts were also reconstructed through testimony. Police say he and the victim met twice the morning Lee disappeared. Before the second encounter, at Herrington’s apartment, prosecutors say he searched for how long it takes to strangle someone.
Lee disappeared July 8, 2022, with presumption by police that he was murdered and his body disposed of by Herrington.
Herrington’s defense attorneys argue that there is no proof a crime was committed and that the search is being explored without context.
