YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Two men who shot two teenagers who were on their way to a basketball game in Yazoo City in 2023 will likely be going to prison for a long time. The district attorney for Yazoo County, Akillie Malone-Oliver, announced James Banks, Jr., and Kendrick Myers, were both found guilty of first degree murder and attempted murder.
The men opted to go to trial rather than take a plea.
The shootings happened Feb. 3, 2023, on Shady Dr. in Yazoo. A surviving victim told the court the men unloaded on them, shooting them several times each.
Sixteen-year-old Jalen Littleton died and a 15-year-old survived the shooting.
Both men are scheduled to be sentenced April 1.
