GREENVILLE, Miss. — The Washington County Library System is gearing up to combat the “summer slide” with its 2025 Summer Reading Program, kicking off in June.
This year’s theme, “Color Our World,” will bring weekly activities aimed at keeping young minds engaged during the school break. Every Thursday in June and July, children can take part in events such as live animal encounters, magic shows, music, games, crafts and reading sessions.
“We want kids to have so much fun they don’t even realize they’re learning,” library staff said.
Registration begins May 27, and participants can earn free books and prizes throughout the summer.
The program is designed to help students retain literacy skills and stay sharp during the academic off-season. For more details, families can visit the WCLS website or follow the library on social media.
