BATESVILLE, Miss.–A 13-year-old boy was shot in the head and died Sunday night in Batesville and now police say they are searching for several suspects.
The shooting happened after an altercation.
Cazarius Gardner died after being taken to the hospital in Memphis, following the shooting, which happened at about 11:30 p.m. at the corner of Everette and Claude streets.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. The students, faculty, and staff will always remember Cazarius’s bright smile, playful nature, and his dedication to his academics and teammates. Please know that we are here to support you,” read a message from the North Panola School District, where Gardner was a student at Como Primary School.
Police have not provided suspect information or descriptions. But, they are asking for tips.
