GREENVILLE, Miss.–It wasn’t a school shooting, but a window at Washington School was shot out, said Greenville Chief of Police Marcus Turner, commenting on an incident that happened at Hallmark Apartments on East Reed Rd., Wednesday afternoon.
Turner said the call about shots fired was at 12:39 p.m. When officers arrived they found evidence of a shooting, later finding that window shot out.
No one was hurt in the incident. But, Turner said he believes it is necessary for apartment complexes to upgrade their security.
“Months ago, I wrote a letter to all Greenville apartment complexes encouraging them to purchase or upgrade their camera systems as an added safety feature for residents. We saw today just how important those small purchases really are,” he said.
“Our officers will continue to patrol and investigate each crime with the utmost priority, but we still cannot do it without the help of the people in the community. We don’t have time to place blame; we only have time for solutions. People must find better, non-violent ways of settling disputes and resolving conflict, other than picking up weapon.”
Turner said he had been in “constant contact” with the headmaster at Washington School.
