LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — Next year newspaper subscribers in five south Arkansas counties will get their news digitally on iPads. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette will stop printing editions of its daily newspaper February 11th in Camden, Magnolia and El Dorado six days a week although the Sunday edition will continue to be distributed both to home subscribers and retailers. The Democrat-Gazette has already provided about 2500 iPads for home delivery service in about 20 counties in east and north Arkansas but continues to distribute the paper to retail stores and newspaper boxes seven days a week. Calling digital publication the future, the company is testing different methods in parts of Arkansas that are furthest from Little Rock to cut distribution costs. Newspaper revenues have fallen annually every year since 2006. Nationally newspapers now receive less than 5 percent of all advertising revenues.
