HERNANDO, Miss.–A former school resource officer with DeSoto County Schools has been arrested and charged with rape and sexual battery.

Hosie Porter turned himself in Monday and resigned from the Hernando Police Dept., said District Atty. Matthew Barton. He had been on administrative leave.
The incident happened while Porter was on duty, but involved an adult and no students were harmed, said Barton.
Police were made aware of the incident last week and informed the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, which is now looking into the incident.
