There have been several reports recently of home and car break-ins in Mound Bayou, according to a statement released by the city. As a result of this increase in crime, city officials have released the following tips for residents:
• PARK CARS IN WELL LIT AREAS
• MAKE SURE YOUR HOME’S ENTRY IS WELL LIT
• NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING OUT IN PLAIN SIGHT INSIDE YOUR CAR
• LOCK ALL DOORS AND SECURELY FASTEN ALL WINDOWS
• PLACE A ROD IN THE TRACK OF SLIDING DOORS
• CONSIDER A RING DOORBELL CAMERA OR SECURITY DEVICE
• USE SMART LIGHTS TO CREATE THE IMPRESSION YOU ARE HOME
• DO NOT POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHEN YOU WILL BE AWAY FROM HOME
• CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HEAR OF SEE ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS
