ITTA BENA, Miss.–A balloon launch and memorial were held Thursday on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University to remember football player Ryan Quinney, of Mobile, who was killed last week in a wreck.
That wreck, which happened a week ago in Yazoo City, followed a police chase.
The driver of the car, Gregory Chambers, Jr., is still in the hospital.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol chased their car beginning in Flora, calling off the chase in Yazoo County. When the two got almost through Yazoo City, they hit a parked car, then a light pole, then flipped several times.
Quinney died at the scene.
It’s unclear if Chambers will be arrested once he recovers.
