CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University is seeking volunteers this summer to help launch Okra Threads, a new campus initiative designed to provide students with clothing, confidence and opportunities.
According to a social media post from the university’s Division of Student Affairs, the program will serve as a clothing resource for students and is expected to open in fall 2026 at the H.L. Nowell Student Union.
University officials are asking volunteers to assist with organizing donations, sorting and displaying clothing, managing inventory and preparing the space for the program’s opening.
“Every great program starts with a few people willing to make a difference,” the post stated. “Okra Threads is looking for individuals who want to help create a resource that provides clothing, confidence, and opportunity for our students.”
The initiative aims to ensure students have access to clothing for a variety of occasions, helping them arrive prepared for classes, interviews and other campus and professional opportunities.
Those interested in volunteering can contact Delta State University’s Office of Student Affairs by emailing [email protected] for more information about available opportunities.
Okra Threads will be located in Room 307 of the H.L. Nowell Student Union and is scheduled to begin serving students in fall 2026.
