GREENVILLE, Miss. — Officers with the Greenville Police Department recovered two firearms, including a handgun equipped with what appeared to be a machine gun conversion device, during a traffic stop Saturday night.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at about 10:50 p.m. Oct. 4 on a brown Nissan Altima near the intersection of Lewis Street and Ely Lane.
During the stop, officers developed probable cause to further investigate the vehicle and its occupants, police said.
Officers recovered a Glock 19 Gen 4 handgun from Julius Dillard. Police said the firearm was equipped with what appeared to be a machine gun conversion device, commonly referred to as a “switch.”
A second firearm was recovered from the front passenger area of the vehicle, where Jereme Pickett was seated, according to police.
Dillard and Pickett were detained while officers continued their investigation.
The Greenville Police Department said the circumstances surrounding the recovered firearms remain under investigation. Additional information regarding potential charges will be released as appropriate.
