LEFLORE COUNTY, Miss. — The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning on Highway 82.
At around 10:09 a.m., a 2004 GMC box truck driven by 44-year-old Raymond Thornburg of Greenwood collided with a road grater. The grater was driven by 71-year-old Sullivan Hawkins of Itta Bena, authorities said.
Thornburg sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Hawkins was not injured in the crash.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
