YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Bitterly cold weather is expected in the Delta, beginning Sunday, along with the possibility that some wintry precipitation could accompany that cold air.
“Dangerous cold is expected next week. We’re looking at a potential longer duration of cold and dangerously low wind chills, as well, in the teens and single digits,” said the National Weather Service in Thursday’s weather briefing.
That begins with a cold front pushing the warm air out Friday night and Saturday. Sunday night’s low in Greenville is expected at 18. Monday night’s low is expected at 20. The wind will make it feel potentially, ten degrees colder.
Another system coming in Tuesday brings the possibility of precipitation.
“Generally we’re looking at a greater confidence along and south of I-20 and a lower confidence north of I-20,” said the weather briefing. But, that doesn’t mean the Delta is out of the woods.
The forecast at this point is uncertain and forecasters will have a better idea of what might happen as the front comes through over the weekend.
