Brutal Attack on Former Justice Court Judge Being Answered in Court

GREENWOOD, Miss.–The brutal attack on a former Leflore County Justice Court judge is being answered in court with the trial of Marvin Ivey, 50, who is accused of attempted murder.
Neysha Sanders, who at the time was a judge, was attacked Oct. 3, 2022, an attack that put her in the hospital for surgery.
“I know from my last 17 years doing Civil Rights I’ve never seen no one try to kill a judge, in particular a Black man,” said Civil Rights attorney John C. Barnett, who came to Ivey’s defense in a press conference this week. His supposition is that to try and kill a judge would be stupid.
He also accused the sheriff’s department of doing lazy work on the case.
“I believe in his innocence. I don’t believe he would have his family here and his mother fighting for two years to get him out of jail, for him to lie,” said Barnett.
