DREW, Miss.–Drew Police Chief Terry Tyler is no longer facing aggravated assault charges for shooting an armed man back in 2022 in Southaven. Now he plans to ask for his job back.

Attorney Matthew Carr, representing Tyler, said Tuesday that all charges against Tyler and his brother-in-law, Norman McBee, had been dropped.
The incident happened Oct. 14, 2022, at a Southaven restaurant. Tyler shot a man who was drunk and violent and who had fired shots at the restaurant after getting a gun from his car. Carr said Tyler protected everyone inside the restaurant, which was his duty as a law enforcement officer.
Tyler and McBee were indicted when D.A. Matthew Barton took office and pushed the case forward.
Though Tyler used potentially lethal force, the man who was shot recovered.
