CLARKSDALE, Miss.–One Clarksdale Commissioner has a beef with the Mississippi Dept. of Transportation. Bo Plunk, Commissioner for Ward 1, says MDOT has been shirking its responsibility to cut grass and Anderson and State St., which Plunk described as a “major intersection.
“It’s under MDOT. MDOT owns it. It’s their property. Everybody else is cutting their property. But, MDOT has not cut that one single time all year,” said Plunk at Monday’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
He said the grass and brush has become unsightly and dangerous, blocking line of sight for traffic.
But, Plunk said state property in other cities gets the proper attention.
“If you go to Southaven, Hernando, and it’s state property, for some reason in them towns, MDOT cuts them lots.”
Plunk suggested that the city draft an “ugly letter” telling MDOT to get with it. He also suggested that the city should cut it and send MDOT the bill.
