CLARKSDALE, Miss.–Clarksdale is getting ready to move forward with changes to city zoning and with a comprehensive plan for the city that may allow more developments. You have one last chance to be heard.
“We have announced this comprehensive plan of zoning maps- we have announced this for over a year and we”ve announced it again and we’re gonna announce it again. So, we’ve done this maybe four times,” said Mayor Chuck Espy at last week’s vetting meeting, which is a kind of work session held publicly the week before the Board of Commissioners meeting.
That meeting, today at 4, is the last chance for Clarksdale residents who want to have a say.
Ward 3 Commissioner Willie Turner said the planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing and some people did show up to talk about it, though none were present at the vetting meeting.
“The public did give input at the Planning Commission meeting,” he said. “There have been multiple bites of the apple.”
