CLEVELAND, Miss.–Delta State University’s enrollment is down for the fall, said data released by the Mississippi Institutions for Higher Learning. The university was one of three schools to see a drop for the current semester.
The enrollment for fall 2023 was 2,716, compared with fall 2024, which, according to the IHL, is 2,654.
That contradicts data that was presented last week to the state’s Senate Workforce Committee by DSU Pres. Dr. Dan Ennis. In a presentation to the committee, which met at Delta State, Ennis said 2,785 students were enrolled for the fall.
Two other universities also experienced drops in enrollment: Jackson State University and the Mississippi University for Women. Delta State’s drop was 2.3 percent, while JSU’s drop was 3.6 percent. The W’s was 1.5 percent.
Mississippi Valley State University had a.4 percent increase for the fall, compared with the same semester last year.
All of the other public universities saw increases for fall 2024.
