Delta State University continues to set a high standard for academic achievement among student-athletes, proudly receiving the David M. Halbrook Trophy in the Public University Men’s Division at this year’s Halbrook Awards. Held in Jackson, Mississippi, the annual ceremony celebrates colleges and universities across the state that demonstrate exceptional academic standards and high graduation rates for student-athletes.

The award, endowed by former Mississippi Representative David Halbrook Sr. and his brothers, recognizes institutions that successfully balance athletic commitment with academic rigor. This year, Delta State’s commitment to academic excellence has earned them a prominent place among Mississippi’s top public universities.

Delta State student-athletes Jesse Cole Kirk and Raegan Paige Stafford were also recognized with the David M. Halbrook Certificate for Academic Achievement. This award honors individual athletes who exhibit outstanding academic performance, leadership, and community service.

“Receiving this award is a true testament to the hard work and discipline of our student-athletes,” said a Delta State representative. “We couldn’t be prouder of their dedication both on the field and in the classroom.”

With this year’s Halbrook Trophy and individual recognitions, Delta State University continues to highlight the value of excellence in academics and athletics.
