LELAND, Miss.–Most of the snow that is in the forecast for Tuesday in some parts of Mississippi, will stay south of the Delta. The National Weather Service forecast updated Monday afternoon was revised to still include the southern tips of the southernmost Delta counties in the Winter Weather Advisory.
The forecast for that area includes less than one inch of snow and possibly some ici9ng on bridges.
But, the impacts of extreme cold are expected to be felt across the entire Delta.
“Looking at the wind chills for the next two to three days, they could get down into the single digits,” said National Weather Service forecaster Eric Carpenter, during Monday’s special weather briefing. That applies mostly at night.
“Mostly they’re gonna be in the teens, very cold conditions,” he said.
That is expected to last through Wednesday night.
“These kinds of wind chills can cause frostbite and hypothermia. So, dress in layers and be ready if you’re gonna be outside for any prolonged period of time,” said Carpenter.
