WASHINGTON–Mississippi’s former governor will now be part of a federal board that will look at ways to reform the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Phil Bryant was appointed to the FEMA Review Council, by Pres. Donald Trump, Monday.
Bryant will serve along with 19 other members from varying parts of the country and different political affiliations.
“Honored to receive this appointment by President Donald J. Trump! Unfortunately, we’ve earned a lot of experience with natural disasters and recovery in Mississippi,” said Bryant in a post Monday after the appointment was made public. “Let’s Make America Safe Again!”
His appointment may have significance for Delta counties still awaiting news as to whether federal disaster assistance will be approved by Pres. Trump to help with damage caused by tornadoes in March.
Arkansas was denied such assistance.
