GREENVILLE, Miss.  — A 20-year-old Indianola man was arrested after leading police on a brief chase in a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Tyshawn McCray was taken into custody after Greenville police cornered the stolen white 2008 Dodge Caravan near the intersection of Dyer and Cannon streets, following a pursuit that spanned several blocks, according to a statement from the Greenville Police Department.

Officers initially responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in the area of Fairview and Causey around 1:30 a.m. Three suspects fled the vehicle on foot when police arrived, while McCray sped away in the stolen van.

During the arrest, police found an assault rifle inside the vehicle. McCray faces charges of felony fleeing and vehicle theft. He is currently being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility, where he awaits an initial court appearance.
