ATLANTA, GA (Ben Caxton) — Atlanta-based fast-food chain Krystal has filed for bankruptcy citing increased competition, shifting consumer tastes, the rise of online delivery platforms and a tight labor market making it difficult for the 88-year-old brand to thrive. The company claims between $50 and $100 million in debt but its restaurants will remain open during the bankruptcy and reorganization process. Krystal is the second-oldest quick-service restaurant in the US with about 300 restaurants and 7500 employees. Krystal’s locations in Clarksdale and Cleveland closed in 2014.
