GREENWOOD, Miss.–The National Weather Service has confirmed 17 tornadoes in Mississippi so far, with some damage surveys still to be done from this weekend’s storms.
Counties with possible tornadoes yet to be surveyed as of Tuesday evening include Leflore, Carroll and Grenada. The tornadoes already confirmed in Leflore and Grenada counties were not included on that list.
In Grenada County 32 homes, three businesses and one road were damaged.
In Leflore County 230 homes and 6 businesses were damaged.
In Sunflower County one home and one business were damaged.
“It’s important for myself and state officials to come and see the damage and listen to the people that were affected,” said Gov. Tate Reeves, in a Tuesday press conference in Walthall County, even as the seventh death from an Ef3 tornado there was confirmed Tuesday morning.
“There’s a lot of property damage all throughout Mississippi. But, there’s also damage that is far greater than just property.”
Though possible tornado damage was reported in Washington County, the data published Tuesday by the National Weather Service did not include confirmation of a tornado there.
