OXFORD, Miss.–The vice chancellor for Student Affairs at Ole Miss has been indicted on ten counts of animal cruelty.
You may remember reading about an animal cruelty bust in Oxford in early August where a man named Terry Pegues was charged with animal cruelty when ten dogs were found dead on his property and 20 more were rescued. Terry Pegues is Dr. Charlotte Pegues’ husband.
Dr. Pegues has taken a leave of absence from Ole Miss. Her attorney said she is not guilty and issued a prepared statement.
“She has served with integrity and character, which are now unfairly called into question by a rushed indictment. Dr. Pegues is not guilty, and we will aggressively defend against these charges.”
Dr. Pegues bond was set at $75,000.
