CLEVELAND, Miss.–Saturday’s storms caused headaches for the people in charge of helping your neighbors out of a jam. In Bolivar County that included a wreck and a church fire.

The wreck was about 7 p.m. as the line of storms was moving through. The post from the Bolivar County Volunteer Fire Dept. did not specify the location, but said a person was trapped inside the car. Firefighters were able to get the door open in less than a minute and get that person out and into an ambulance, while it was pouring rain.
The church fire was Rayner Rd. near Mound Bayou. The Bolivar County Volunteer firefighters helped out the Mound Bayou Volunteers. But, the church appears to be a total loss. It was not clear what started the fire.
As far as actual storm damage goes, none was reported by Sunday to MEMA from any Delta counties.
But, strong straight line winds were reported in Greenville.
“This was with the line as it was developing at Greenville,” said National Weather Service lead forecaster Mike Edmunston, with the Jackson office. “I saw 67 mph.”
A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Greenville at the time. A tornado warning was issued for Coahoma County, but no touchdowns were reported as of Sunday.
