CLEVELAND, Miss.–Damage from Wednesday night and Thursday morning’s storms includes about 60 homes, some of which were in Delta counties, Gov. Tate Reeves announced in a press conference Thursday afternoon.
“Those counties are Benton, Bolivar, Marshall, Tate and Tippah,” he said.
Six people were injured because of the storms. Those injuries happened in Tate, Marshall and Tippah counties. No one was killed in the storms.
Reeves said damage assessments were still going on and that some counties had requested water, tarps to prevent further damage, and ready to eat meals for people affected.
“I encourage Mississippians who’ve sustained damage from this storm to file an insurance claim, take photos of the damage, and report it via the self-report tool on MEMA’s website. Additionally, if you have an immediate, unmet need, please contact your county emergency management agency. A list of those county contacts can also be found on MEMA’s website,” said Reeves.
“I want all Mississippians to know that the state of Mississippi is in this for the long haul, and we will do everything in our power to rebuild and recover as quickly as possible. Please pray for those Mississippians who were injured and their families, as well as those whose homes were damaged.”
