CLEVELAND, Miss.–A wind advisory is in effect for Tuesday ahead of a storm system that is expected to bring highwinds and the possibility for tornadoes.
Much of the Delta has a 3 in 5 chance for tornadoes, said the National Weather Service.
Sustained winds of up to 25 mph are expected, with some gusts as high as 40 to 50 mph. Some gusts could be as strong as 70 mph near storms.
While high winds are the main risk for northern Delta counties, the risk for tornadoes there cannot be ruled out. In the southern half of the Delta tornadoes are still the main concern, according to a Monday update from the National Weather Service Jackson office.
Once the system moves through highs will be in the 50s for Wednesday and Thursday, possibly reaching 70 again by Friday.
