ROLLING FORK, Miss.–Sharkey County may get a safe room despite the objections of two county supervisors who say it will cost the county too much money.
The Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 Monday to go ahead with the project.
The supervisors who object believe the county’s contribution of $1.8 million is too costly. It’s a $7 million project, with MEMA and FEMA providing the rest.
Last year 15 people died in the county in an EF-4 tornado.
