Sunflower County Officials Discuss Safety Plans for Upcoming Party

INDIANOLA, Miss.–A planned block party in Indianola has the Board of Supervisors upset and Sheriff Jame Haywood making plans to block off the county-owned area around the courthouse.

“They don’t come home to watch the game. They come home to party,” said Supervisor Glen Donald.
He pointed out previous trouble in Indianola with a mass shooting earlier this year, last weekend’s killing of three people after a homecoming in Holmes County and beefs between nearby Delta cities and people in Indianola.
“”It ain’t the people coming from out of state that’s gonna be the problem. It’s these little beefs in Washington County. Greenville has been beefing with Indianola and Moorehead for the last month. There’s been five shootings in Moorehead I think, in the last month, month and a half.”
Donald said one of his main concerns is that the county’s hospital and ambulance service might not be able to adequately handle a situation.
“Nine times out of ten something gonna break out. They’re beefing right now over the internet and Facebook,” he said.
Donald suggested a meeting between the Board and Indianola officials to ask them to do their part in curbing any trouble.
